The Majestic Line
Country: United Kingdom, Dunoon
Cruise the west coast of Scotland: our cruising area is Argyll and the Islands of the Hebrides, one of the most unspoiled and beautiful natural environments in the world, rich in history, culture and wildlife. The Argyll coastline is larger than that of France, with many stunningly beautiful sea lochs piercing far inland, providing sheltered cruising waters with the spectacular senery on either side mirrored in the Lochs. The Hebrides is a unique visual landscape, made up of hundreds of large and small islands, creating a haven for wildlife - find out more on our page about Natural Scotland. We also have two cruise itineraries which explore inland - to magnificent Loch Ness and the Caledonian Canal and fabulous Glencoe. A Majestic Line cruise is the very antithesis of a rigidly planned tour. Our two vessels, the Glen Massan and the Glen Tarsan sail from Oban in North Argyll to provide a choice of itineraries to explore this remarkable area of the West Coast of Scotland. Remote and idyllic, yet easy to reach. The remote areas that our cruises explore are best accessed from the sea and surprisingly easy to reach.
The name ‘The Majestic Line' is inspired by the famous 1960's "Para Handy" TV sitcom, from the stories by Neil Munro, which were located in the Clyde. The relevant episode tells of the "Vital Spark" ships engineer, McPhail who, having walked out of his job, claimed to have signed on a ship of ‘The Majestic Line' (which he even claim.
